How to Find a Loved One in Jail

It can be stressful having a loved one who has been arrested. But your stress level can increase even more if you have no idea what jail or prison they were taken to. If your loved one has been arrested, you may find yourself wondering how to locate them. Here is some information on how to find your loved one in jail.

Information to Gather

In order to find your loved one in jail, you will need certain information. Always have their full legal name and their date of birth. If possible, try to have their inmate ID number. If you do not have their inmate ID number, you can still locate them, but having this information makes it easier.

Resources to Check

Once you have the information gathered in regards to your loved one, there are a few different resources that you can check. One of the best resources to check is www.vinelink.com. This resource allows you to search for your loved one using their name and date of birth or estimated age range. Once you have found your loved one, it will provide you with a wealth of information, including their inmate ID number, estimated release date, and the location they are currently housed. Another option to check is www.inmatesplus.com. For this option, you will need to know which state your loved one is located in. From there, you can check county and state prisons.

It is important to note that both of the above resources do not include federal prisons. If you think your loved one may be housed in a federal prison, or you cannot find your loved one through the above links, check www.bop.gov. This is the federal prison locator. It will tell you if your loved one is housed in a federal prison and which one.

All of the above resources are updated daily, so you may need to wait for a day or two after your loved one has been arrested to locate them using these websites.

Using a Bonding Company

If you still cannot locate your loved one, a bonding company may be able to assist you. Most bonding companies have access to a database that allows them to check for inmates. The more information you have about your loved one, the easier it will be to locate them. A bonding company may ask you for their name, date of birth and where they were arrested.

Once your loved one is located, you will be able to post bail on their behalf, if bail has been set for them. At Free at Last Bail Bonds, we are fully committed to reuniting families. If you or a loved one needs our services, we are here for you 24 hours a day at 470-410-3409.
